SPRING Youth Service Programs

Spring Storytimes (Monday March 6th - Thursday April 13th)

Babies and Books:  Infants up to 24 months

  • 10:30am Thursdays 
  • Stories, songs, and rhymes introduce babies and caregivers to language skills.  This program lasts about 20 minutes.

Terrific Toddlers:  Ages 2 - 3 1/2

  • 10:30am Tuesdays and 11:30am Thursdays
  • Puppets, stories, songs and finger plays for toddlers and caregivers.  This program lasts about 30 minutes.

Preschool Page Turners:  Ages 3 1/2 - 5

  • 11:30am Tuesdays
  • Stories, songs and games!  Parents must remain in the Library during this storytime.  This program lasts about 30 minutes.

Stories Around the World: All Ages

  • 4pm Mondays
  • A celebration of diversity! Each week’s program will  feature stories and activities from a different country, culture, or region. Program lasts about 45 minutes. Parents must remain in the Library during this storytime.

Other Monthly Programs:

Creature Comfort: Mondays 3/6, 4/3, 5/1

  • Children practice reading out loud to a trained therapy dog. (Fun activities such as coloring page, word searches, and/ or crafts will be provided for children to do while they wait their turn to read to a dog).

Lego Club: Tuesdays 3/7, 4/4, 5/2 from 4pm-5pm (Grades K-5)

  • Lego club meets the first Tuesday of every month.  Kids in grades K-5 build and have fun using legos supplied by the library. We also have duplo blocks for your little ones.

Downtime With Disney:  Saturday 3/18, 4/15, 5/20

  • Come by the library to watch Disney films on the big screen! January's movie is Finding Dory

Book Bingo:  Mondays 3/27, 4/24 at 6:30 pm (Grades K-3)

  • Children in grades K-3 stop by the Children's Room to play the literacy version of bingo!  No registration required. Program lasts 30 minutes.

Special Programs For All Ages:

Stuffed Animal Sleepover! : Thursday 2/23 at 4pm

  • Children bring a stuffed animal with them to story time at the library then say goodnight  to their friend.  The stuffed animals sleepover at the library and have fun adventures! They can be picked up the next day.

Dr. Seuss's Birthday! : Thursday 3/2 at 4pm

  • Celebrate Red Across America with Dr. Seuss & Friends!  Featuring stories, activities, and more.

NJ Makers Day : Saturday 3/25 from 1pm - 4pm

  • Fun hands on experiences for the entire family, from collaging to robotics!  Featuring Lego Robotics with Sylvan Learning Center

Free Comic Book Day : Saturday 5/6 from 9am - 5pm

  • Stop by the library to pick up a free comic book! (Sponsored by Time Warp Comics & Games in Cedar Grove)

Planting a Rainbow Storytime : Saturday 5/6 from 1pm - 3pm

  • Presented by the ESL Club.  Fun activities and games for kids.

Programs for Older Children

S.T.E.A.M. Club:  Tuesdays  2/28, 3/28, and 4/25 at 4pm (Ages 8-12)

  • Children ages 8-12 have fun at these programs inspired by the fields of sciece, technology, engineering, art, and math.  

Harry Potter Fan Club:  Friday 3/31 at 4:00pm (Best for Ages 8 and up)

  • Join other Harry Potter fans at an afternoon of themed activities and snacks! Fans are encouraged to come dressed in their Hogwarts clothes or Muggle best!

Check-It-Out Mate! (Chess Club):  Weekly 4pm-5pm on Thursdays May 18th through June 22nd

  • Children in grades 2-8 can learn to play chess with Eric Greenebaum. Novice and advanced players are welcome! (Registration Required)
