Friends Special Events

------------------------------------
The Fall 2019 Friends of the West Orange Public Library book sale was a huge success. With nearly 300 West Orange residents shopping the stacks in the lower level of the library over the course of three days, the Friends sold 1,495 books and DVDs for a total revenue of $2,495. Thank you for your support!

Once again this year, the book sale kicked off with a reception for Friends members. Guests enjoyed refreshments, raffles, door prizes, good company, and of course, early access book shopping.

Proceeds from the Book Sale go towards improvements in the library, purchasing of technology and equipment for programming, Summer Reading prizes, and providing refreshments for the monthly art receptions. Your support helps provide the library with funding to enhance programs for all of our residents.

After the sale, we opened up our shelves to teachers from the West Orange Public Schools. Teachers from the high school, middle schools, and elementary schools filled bags of free books for their classrooms and their students. It was one small way we can carry out the library's mission of providing free and easy access to materials that enhance life-long learning, literacy, and the enjoyment of reading.
